Introduction
dsh-app
English | 中文
dsh-app is a personal desktop app built on the DeepSeek Harness codebase: a Tauri v2 desktop shell for the DeepSeek Harness Web UI. It spawns the local backend (dsh web --port 0), waits for its readiness line, opens a native window, navigates it to the backend URL, and terminates the backend when the app exits.
This repository forks deepseek-ai/deepseek-harness and adds the desktop app under apps/desktop/. The original upstream README is preserved at README.upstream.md.
Prerequisites
- Node.js
^22.19 || >=24and pnpm - A Rust toolchain for Tauri (dev and build both compile
src-tauri)
Start the desktop app (development)
pnpm install
pnpm --filter @deepseek-ai/dsh-desktop desktop:dev
Dev mode launches the backend from source with the system node and opens the native window. The first cargo build compiles the full Tauri dependency tree and takes several minutes.
Build the app bundle
pnpm run build
pnpm --filter @deepseek-ai/dsh-desktop desktop:build
desktop:build first deploys the backend (downloads a Node runtime and installs the published @deepseek-ai/dsh CLI into apps/desktop/src-tauri/resources/), then runs tauri build. The self-contained bundle lands in apps/desktop/src-tauri/target/release/bundle/ (.app and .dmg on macOS).
Run the built app
open "apps/desktop/src-tauri/target/release/bundle/macos/DeepSeek Harness.app"
The distributed .app is unsigned and un-notarized, so macOS may require right-click → Open. The bundle is self-contained: it ships its own Node runtime and backend, so no separate install is needed.
